Part-Time Development Director
Reports to the Executive Director
General Description of Responsibilities:
The part time development director will develop and implement fundraising endeavors including, major gifts solicitation, planned giving and corporate solicitation for special events with a goal of generating funding to support the operating budget and grow the endowment fund.
Status: 32 hours per week.

Hours
Flexible hours to be mutually agreed upon with executive director. Must be available for Monday afternoon staff meeting. Needs to be available for rare evening and weekend events.

Duties and Responsibilities:
General Fundraising
- Implement the Board of Directors’ Fund Development plans and strategies
- Work with the Executive Director to establish appropriate goals, objectives, and tactics for the development program
- Develop a calendar of all development activities outlineing peak performance dates and workload
- Develop and recommend a monthly development “dashboard monitor” to track and report progress
- Identify, research, contact and build relationships with foundations, corporations and individual donors
- Create, prepare and distribute development communications including annual appeal, major gifts and planned giving brochures /materials and make personal contacts as follow up to these efforts
- Ensure maintenance of all appropriate record keeping, reporting and evaluation systems related to fund development, prospect/donor tracking and donor acknowledgement
- Serve as a liaison to the Development Committee; develop agendas in coordination with Committee Chair and Executive Director. Attend board or executive committee meetings as requested
Special Events
- Assist with fundraising events (currently Fall Luncheon, Artitude) to solicit corporate and individual sponsors and attend events to meet/thank donors
- Develop key follow up strategies post event to thank and renew donors
- Lead the National Campaign Lee Denim Day
Administrative
- Participate in weekly staff meetings
- Participate in Headquarters development conference calls/training
- Represent the organization through participation in Association of Fundraising Professionals and Smoky Mountain Planned Giving Council
- Maintain/update donor pages of website and newsletter
Community
- Represent The Wellness Community as requested at various community functions, develop new relationships with volunteers and donors
- Support and advocate for the mission of The Wellness Community

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; 3-5 years experience in nonprofit fundraising with an emphasis on major gifts solicitation, planned giving and communications preferred; proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher a plus.
- The successful candidate must be a self-starter, possess excellent communications skills; excellent writing skills; demonstrated interpersonal skills; excellent planning and organizational skills; ability to handle multiple deadlines and priorities; team player; creative, enthusiastic, reliable and result-oriented.
