Breakaway from Cancer is a complementary component to the Amgen Tour of California to raise awareness and funds to support valuable services and programs, provided free of charge that help people living with cancer.  The initiative supports The Wellness Community and the National Coalition of Cancer Survivorship.

Weekly Groups for people with cancer and/or family members are the heart of The Wellness Community's program. An interview is required prior to joining a group.

Yoga uses the body/mind connection for enhancing awareness and discovering our potential for wellness.


Family Bereavement Group

(Thursdays, 5:30-7:30pm)
The Family Bereavement Group is open to any bereaved family member or friend who has lost a loved one to cancer.

  Wellness Workout

(Mondays 12-1pm)

This weekly fitness program focuses on total body conditioning and includes gentle stretching, resistance training, and low-impact aerobic exercises.  This program is made possible through a Wellness Community grant from the Tom Cronan Fitness Fund.

       The Wellness Community of East Tennessee (TWC), located in Knoxville, would like to welcome you to our website.

       We provide a full range of support services for people in East Tennessee with cancer and for their loved ones in a comfortable home-like setting, completely free of charge. We offer drop-in and on-going support groups, networking groups for specific types of cancer, educational workshops, stress management sessions, lectures by experts in the field of oncology, and social gatherings - all with laughter, joy and hope.

The body's energies are a key to health, vitality and well-being.  Energy therapy is the art and science of working with and teaching people to work with these energies to empower them to live happier, healthier lives.  Join Lynn, Margaret and Caroline as they present an overview of several energy therapies which, for some, have been shown to increase energy, deepen relaxation and provide pain relief.  They will also explore with you the current and expanding role of complementary medicines in healthcare.  Several techniques will be taught to use alone and also with a partner.  So feel free to bring someone with whom to practice.
